HEALTH & SAFETY TIPS
- if you are using a product that can cause allergic reactions, you have to check the model by putting a blob on their arm/hand to see if it reacts badly. Signs: soreness, heat, itchiness
- use a well ventilated room
- barrier cream/foam - rub on before you put the minor small prosthetic pieces on, anything you're going to stick on - this allows you to work over the top.
- cover the model with coach roll to protect clothing.
Ageing
The products that are used to create an ageing look includes latex, old age supliment and acetone.
Latex:
• can use it on any part of the body but hurts when removing it from hairy areas - so be careful.
• working around the eyes = models eyes have to be shut at all times until dry.
• can mix colour into the latex
• can create dry skin with latex
• remove with warm water
• after applying each layer you have to make sure it is clear and dry before applying another layer.
DO NOT:
• pour the latex down the sink, scoop and put it in the bin.
Products used:
Supracolour
Aquacolour
Brushes
Foundation palette
Cotton buds
Latex
Old Age Supplement
Acetone
Translucent powder
Kryolan barrier cream
Sponges
Hair dryer
The first look I attempted to create was a dry skin look. Unfortunately it didn't go to plan. I attempted to create the dry skin look on the neck but the colour didn't correctly match. The supplement was a different colour to the skin on Leah's neck which made it obvious that it was there. I also used to much of the product so it went on too thick. To improve next time I will use less of the product and if it's still a different colour I will mix the liquid supplement with a white product to make it lighter.
The second look I created was a wrinkle effect. I created this by applying the latex with a sponge and stippling it on stretched skin. I dried the look with the hair dryer and squeezed the skin together to create a wrinkled look. I used acetone to ease out the edges to give it a cleaner look.
